Second anniversary of March 11 disaster

Ian posts short documentary for 2nd anniversary of March 11
As the second anniversary of March 11 approaches, Ian has published a new short documentary on his DocumentingIan Channel. The documentary combines footage from the documentaries Ian shot shortly after the tsunami and nuclear meltdown along with footage never before published. Multilingual Trailers for Ian’s new documentary, “A2”, are uploaded
Since returning from another trip to film in Fukushima in January, Ian has been in post-production for his second film about the nuclear disaster. The new film, “A2“, documents the increasing number of children in Fukushima found to have thyroid cysts and nodules. “A2” follows Ian’s 2012 documentary “In the Grey Zone“, the central theme of which was the future health of the children living in Fukushima just weeks after the nuclear meltdown. “In the Grey Zone” receives 2012 RIIFF Audience Award
Ian’s feature documentary “Gurei Zoun No Naka” (In the Grey Zone), premiered last summer at the 2012 Rhode Island International Film Festival. On the final day of the festival, Ian was awarded with the “Filmmaker of the Future Award“. After the festival was over, the votes were tallied and the audience choice awards were announced in the autumn. “In the Grey Zone” was given the Audience Choice Award for Best Documentary, and Ian received the certificate in the post this week. Fukushima mothers continue to share their struggle with Ian
Ian’s monthly visits to Fukushima continue, and he has just come back from another filming trip. Prior to his arrival, more Fukushima mothers had contacted Ian about the results of their children’s thyroid screenings and blood tests. Ian met with many families to discuss the issue of thyroid cysts and nodules, the government’s plans to use locally-grown rice in the children’s mandatory school lunch program, and the increasing evidence that the decontamination program is ineffective and exposing the children to extremely high levels of radiation. Thyroid Cysts and Nodules in Fukushima Children Increasing
Ian continues to film in Fukushima with the focus of his work on the increasing number of children found to have thyroid cysts and nodules. He has just come back from a week of filming in the cities of Fukushima and Date in Fuksuhima, and his blog posts about what he discovered can be found here: part 1 part 2 part 3 part 4 part 5 part 6 Ian is currently editing this recent footage and plans to return to Fukushima on December 16th to continue filming.
Ian invited to speak at Tokyo Rotary Club
Today Ian was invited by the Tokyo Itabashi Rotary Club to speak to the members about his experiences filming in Fukushima and to present a 20 minute selection of his work documenting the current situation of the children of Fukushima. Ian continues filming in Fukushima
As part of his continuing work to document what is currently happening to the children of Fukushima, Ian has spent this week filming with families who have not been able to evacuate their children. Discovery News publishes Ian’s Guest blog on “Nulcear Ghost Towns”
Ian’s relationship with Discovery News continues with today’s publication of his guest blog “Fukushima Nuclear Ghost Town’s Secrets Revealed“. In the article, Ian describes his experiences filming in two towns in Fukshima that were evacuated after the nuclear meltdown, and it is accompanied by two of his recent short documentaries.
