Part 4 of Ian’s new documentary “In Containment” has been uploaded to DocumentingIan Channel. STORY: Ian and Hiroshi enter the exclusion zone, 10km from the damaged nuclear power plant in Fukushima. After traveling down the tsunami-ravaged coast, they drive through the center of Namie town, which was badly damaged in the earthquake. After getting out of the car to measure radiation levels, they are stopped by a police patrol and questioned. Finally, after coming across a herd of cows that roams freely in the exclusion zone, the film crew unknowingly drives directly into a radiation hotspot.
Screening of “In the Grey Zone” at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan
A preview screening of Ian’s feature documentary “Gurei Zone No Naka” (In the Grey Zone) will be held on Tuesday, July 24 from 18:00 at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan, Tokyo. The screening of the film will take place from 18:00-19:30 and will be followed by a press conference from 19:30-20:00. The full press release for this event can be found on the FCCJ website. Part 3 of Ian’s current documentary “In Containment” has just been uploaded to DocumentingIan Chanel. Part 3 STORY: Hiroshi takes Ian into Odaka, the southern-most part of Minamisoma which is between 10 to 20 km from the damaged nuclear power plant in Fukushima. After the nuclear meltdown Odaka was evacuated and became part of exclusion zone, and since access has only recently been allowed, much of the destruction remains exactly as it was after the earthquake and tsunami. Part 1 of “In Containment” series uploaded to DocumentingIan Channel
Part 1 of Ian’s new documentary series “In Containment”, an update on the ongoing crises in Minamisoma, has just been uploaded to the DocumentingIan Channel. Part 1 opens with people in the city of Minamisoma, Fukushima remembering the victims of the tsunami fifteen months after the March 11 disaster. Ian then visits the former site of the 20 km exclusion zone and is questioned by a police officer. Later, citizens of Minamisoma share the personal struggles they continue to face.
