Documentary on the Wright Imperial published
The next installment in the series Ian is directing for The Imperial Hotel, Tokyo, has just been published. Focusing on the building that the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright designed for the Imperial in 1923, the short documentary is accompanied by a column written by Ian. “Boys for Sale” receives Fox-sponsored award
At the North American premier of Boys for Sale, the documentary was honoured with the “Fox Inclusion Outfest Feature” award. Ian, one of the producers on the film, along with Co, one of the protagonists, were on hand to receive the award on behalf of the team. On the DocumentingIan Blog, Ian writes about the festival in two parts; Part 1 details the screening, while Part 2 details the award.
North American Premier of “Boys for Sale” to be held in LA’s Outfest
After last week’s World Premier of 売買ボーイズ (Boys for Sale) in Germany, the North American premier of the documentary has just been announced on the producer’s blog DocumentingIan.

The World Premier for “Boys for Sale”, on which Ian served as producer, held its World Premier last week in front of a sold out crowd in Frankfurt, Germany. Attended by Ian, and Co, one of the film’s protagonists, the documentary marks Ian’s first time working as a producer on a feature documentary. “Boys for Sale”, a documentary produced by Ian about young guys working in Tokyo’s sex trade, will hold it’s World Premier this week in Frankfurt, Germany, at the 2017 Nippon Connection Film Festival. “Suturing Cultures” to be re-broadcast May 29
“Suturing Cultures“, Ian’s documentary commissioned by NHK World that first aired in February of this year, will be re-broadcast on May 29. The times and more about the program, which is about young Japanese medical students preparing for a career during which they will also see foreign patients, can be found on the NHK World page for the film.
Acres of Diamonds
While Ian represented “Acres of Diamonds”, on which he served as one of the producers, at the East Coast premier, director Shawn Small was receiving the award for Best Short Doc at the LA premier. More information about the film and the screenings can be found on the DocumentingIan Blog.
